Applications are invited for a postdoctoral position in LIAFA, Université Paris Diderot (Paris 7).

The position has been filled. Maciej Dolega will be among us starting in Fall 2013.

1- General information

The Cartaplus project, dedicated to the combinatorics of maps and its interactions, offers a one-year postdoctoral position, with a possible extension to two years, to be started during the fall 2013. The successful applicant will join the research activity of the Cartaplus group members. She/he will be affiliated with the LIAFA Combinatorics Team, in Université Paris Diderot in Paris 13th district. There is no teaching duty.

The salary offered will be around 2200 euros per month (net). We will also provide the postdoc with some travel money (around 1500 euros per year) and a laptop if necessary.

The candidate should have a strong background in at least one of the following subjects: enumerative combinatorics, probability theory, theoretical physics, algebraic combinatorics. His/her research interests should be related to combinatorial maps, at least in some of its aspects. Possible research themes include: random maps, random trees, map enumeration, algebraic combinatorics, integrable systems.

Université Paris Diderot is located downtown Paris and interacts with many other research institutions, in particular CEA, École Polytechnique, and École Normale Supérieure.

Applications (including CV, list of publications and short description of research interests), as well as two recommendation letters, should be sent before Jan 31th, 2013 by e-mail to guillaume.chapuy@liafa.univ-paris-diderot.fr. Applicants are expected to have a PhD in computer science, mathematics or theoretical physics when the position starts.
